Job Title: Division Accounting Manager

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Supervisory Responsibilities: None Initially – Lead up to Supervisory

Position Objective / Summary:

The Divisional Accounting Manager is accountable for the accounting operations of the company’s subsidiaries, to include maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. The position is also responsible for cash and risk management.   The Divisional Accounting Manager will work in conjunction with the Corporate Accounting Manager to ensure efficient flow of accounting information

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, including their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
  • Evaluate current processes
  • Make/implement recommendations for process improvement
  • Evaluate current subsidiary accounting software and lead migration to new/corporate accounting software
  • Ensure that subsidiary accounts payable are recorded and paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that subsidiary accounts receivable are recorded and collected promptly
  • Process weekly corporate and subsidiary payroll
  • Perform subsidiary monthly closing process
  • Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed
  • Maintain the subsidiary chart of accounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Interface with staff and management to resolve discrepancies, answer questions, and provide guidance
  • Perform special projects as needed
  • Understand corporate accounting structure and serve as a backup as needed
  • Assist in the issuance of timely and complete financial statements
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company subsidiaries
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics of company subsidiaries
  • Assist in the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Travel to Subsidiaries as needed (likely 20% travel time)

Education/Prior Working History Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
