Job Title:  Sheet-Fed Offset Press Operator

Reports to: Production Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Position Objective / Summary: The Sheet-Fed Offset Press Operator performs all tasks involved in the printing of Bristol ID’s products by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain print equipment
  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly print deadlines
  • Perform maintenance on print equipment as required and report issues or problems to appropriate supervisor
  • Manipulate color calibration set-up
  • Review all work orders, proofs, and final product samples produced on print equipment before releasing to internal or external customers
  • Feed and / or unload product from print equipment
  • Mix ink to match Spot Colors
  • Maintain and track ink/supplies inventory
  • Process plates as needed to complete work order
  • Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving, and manipulating materials
  • Use control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate print equipment
  • Inspect product for flaws
  • Record information according to established policies and procedures
  • Remove completed or defect products, placing them in specified areas
  • Operates any equipment needed to perform job
  • Aid in facility cleanliness; interior and exterior
  • Performs related duties as needed by supervision
  • Continually learn new processes to increase efficiency
  • Makes recommendations for process improvement

  • Familiarity with all product lines
  • Working knowledge and understanding of color theory, imposition and printing
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, or lift for long periods of time
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required

  • Walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day
  • Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required

  • May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another during the production process
  • Contact with and use of inks and cleaning chemicals
